Meet sweet baby Isabelle. This little lady was a doll. She was as beautiful as could be and is already so loved and adored by her beautiful parents. For Isabelle’s newborn photography session we used lots of neutrals and grey.

This handsome little fella took a couple minutes to warm up to the cake smashing, but once he figured out it was fun he definitely gave us some great smiles!  I have been photographing this guy from birth so I know that once he smiles they are camera worthy and oh so adorable!

Sweet little Chloe is growing up, too fast!  It feels like just yesterday that I photographed her newborn sessions. But look at her now she is a cute ONE yr old. She is definitely very fashionable and she certainly looks adorable in every outfit that she wore!  She loved her cake and since it was her Birthday she didn’t have to smile if she didn’t want to :)

Twins are always fun to photograph. I travel to your home and bring the studio to you. The biggest challenge is getting them to sleep at the same time. I typically start with the sleepiest twin for their solo images while a parent is getting the other to sleep. Then I bring them together for sibling images, and finish up with the other twin’s solo images. I really enjoy working with twin families, and have so much respect for parents with twins! Having ONE newborn is challenging, so I can’t imagine what it’s like to have two!

Anthony & Cole are fraternal twins who could not be more different, Anthony is tiny and delicate, about 5 lbs and his brother Cole has about 1.5 pounds heavier. It was so funny to see the two of them next to each other! I just love how genetics work out with siblings sometimes.

After I finished photographing the babies, we moved on to the parent and family portion. There are lots of variations with two newborns that we’ll walk through, and I’ll assess your comfort level in how you hold them. Baby safety is the top priority , , so we won’t place babies in potentially risky positions even in your arms. I am always checking with you to make sure you feel that your baby is secure and that you have a good hold on them. We’ll be in constant communication during our time together about how you’re feeling and if you need a break to sit down and rest. Postpartum recovery is a process, and it’s normal to feel extra tired or to become a bit light headed after standing for a while. A six pound baby might not feel so heavy at first, but can feel like an anvil after ten minutes for a new mom.

Sweet little Nova was an angel for her in-home newborn session.  Her two big brothers were so sweet during her session.   Nova is a sweet little rainbow baby.  Her parents are fellow photographers and videographers.   i can't wait to see their youtube video from her newborn session.

I love doing in-home newborn sessions in the Short Pump, VA area because my families just seem so relaxed for their sessions.  No rushing out the door and hoping not to have forgotten anything important.  Baby boy was such a good baby for his newborn session and I got so many adorable photos of him that his family will treasure for years to come.

I love getting to hang out with an adorable six month-old.  I photographed Finley in her home for her six month session  Her siblings were great sports as well when they were asked to get in a few of the images.  I think Finley was one of the happiest 6-month-olds I have ever met.  Finley smiled through her entire studio session which made me fall in love   Here is a sneak peek from her adorable milestone session.

Newborn Eva was so cuddly for her newborn session.  I love that I have the flexibility to do both in-home sessions and studio sessions.  Most of my clients choose the in-home session, which is no extra charge to travel to my clients home.  My studio is located in Short Pump, VA

Cake Smash sessions are so much fun.  Some kids smile a bunch, some are super serious, some cry, some do a mixture of all three, but watching kids try cake for the first time is really and enjoyable time no mater how they react to the cake.  Seeing their reaction to their cake smash session is so much fun and can make mom and dad really laugh during their session.  Sweet Anika had such a great time with her cake-smash/first year photo session.   She was adorable, I mean, her hair and beautiful eyes were amazing!

I first worked with Mercedes and Ryan for their first maternity session and newborn session with their first daughter. I was thrilled to hear from Mercedes again letting me know she was pregnant with her second child, a baby girl. They loved their experience with us and wanted to work with us again for her new daughters session. I absolutely love seeing my clients throughout the years for different sessions as their family and children grow.

Since Mercedes had worked with us previously, she knew exactly what to expect from our time together.

Baby A. was a great sleeper and BIG sister M. was only 17 months old but made my job look easy photographing them both.

I like to photograph with neutral colors so that nothing distracts from your baby and all their precious little features.   Your baby won't be competing with props or bright colors during their session.  Baby girl was such a deep sleeper, we moved through her newborn portion quickly.  She woke up towards the end and i handed her to her mom to nurse.  Babies are fed as needed during your session.   The sessions are laid back and relaxed,  so if you need to feed your baby four times during the course of your time, or if baby eats very slowly-please know that this is perfectly Okay!  Your baby's comfort is our top priority, and that we will work around it.

The most successful time to do newborn sessions with props and posing is when baby is 5 to 12 days old. But sometimes people are unable to do a session so soon after birth, or sometimes you don't think about it until after baby arrives. And that's totally fine! I was contacted and fit sweet baby girl into my calendar she was 3 weeks old. And even though by this age they are less sleepy and less curled up from being so fresh from the womb, there is still so much newness to capture. They are so teeny tiny for a short time, they grow and change really fast! So even if it's technically past the 5 to 12 days, your baby will never be teenier or tinier then they are right now.

Katie was referred to me by a fellow photographer,   She was due any minute and i was happy to squeeze her into my schedule.     I arrived at Katies home.  Baby C. was awake during most of the parent shots which was lifestyle in their bedroom but for her portraits baby C. slept so well.   If a newborn is awake during the session we wrap her in a nice swaddle so she feels secure and we get the open eye shots then once she falls asleep we can capture the sweet squishy newborn poses that are just so adorable.    Once the session is completed you will receive a sneak peek via Facebook then about 2wks after your session you will receive a password protected gallery where you can choose the digital downloads that we included in your contract.     If you would like to purchase Albums,  or Canvases, prints or other products you can do that all on line.

There are a lot of Moms to be asking how to reserve a spot for a newborn session when we really don't know when the baby will arrive. Reserving your spot doesn't mean that we are scheduling your sessions date and time. It means that we are guaranteeing you a spot on our calendar when your baby arrives. Babies are unpredictable. I have photographed micro preemies , 32 wks, 37 weekers and babies over a month old. Even if your baby is born early or late- it doesn't matter, you are still guaranteed your spot with your reservation. You'll let us know within 48hrs after birth that your baby has arrived and we will respond with a few questions to help us determine the best dates for you. We will want to know that weight of your baby, how you both are doing , these factors will affect the date we choose for your session, which is usually between 5-11 days old.

Newborn sessions can take place in my home studio or in the comfort of your own home. Newborn sessions are relaxed and slow paced. I will talk with you about how to prepare for your session and we will discuss colors and the type of props you would like for me to bring. The Deluxe Newborn session includes parents, siblings, and pets. The Petite Newborn session is BABY ONLY.
